Washington Mystics Outplay Connecticut, 69-64

Lindsay Whalen led the Sun with a career tying 33 points but Connecticut couldn’t pull off a win over the Washington Mystics on Sunday.

Rookie Amber Holt added 10 points and was the only other player besides Whalen to score more than 6 points.

Asjha Jones, Connecticut’s leading scorer with and average of 16.9 points per game, was held to just 6 points for the game.

In the 4th, the Sun fought to overcome a 14 point Washington lead and were able to get within 1.

Alana Beard hit a jumper with just 37 seconds left to put Washington on top 65-62. And Niki Blue hit 2 free throws with just 17 seconds left to play to seal the win for the Mystics.
